Every year, consumers are being denied of application for credit, loan or job due to inaccurate information in their credit reports. You do not have to be one of them. Crediting bureaus normally receive updates regarding your credit report from your creditors. The problem begins when your creditor allows automated processes to take over the reporting.
In order to ensure that your credit report only says accurate information about your financial lifestyle, it is important to check it regularly. You can do this by ordering a copy of your credit report from the crediting bureaus or to whichever your creditor is subscribed to. Once you get a hold of your credit report, examine it carefully and check if there are any errors.
Write a Letter
If, by any chance, you see any errors within the credit report, dig up old records about the errors. Being a consumer, it must be your habit to store receipts and documents regarding your purchases. These can be very useful especially if there are errors in your credit report.
Once you get the documents that can support your claim, include them in a letter, which states your claim regarding the inaccuracies. However, only include copies of those documents and not the originals. Also, do not forget to include reasons as to why you claim such information as inaccurate and do it in a polite manner. Do not resort in calling the crediting bureau unless you have already sent the letter. Starting from the day you sent the letter, it takes 30 days for the investigation about the inaccuracies to finish.
