Fix Credit Report

September 19th, 2008 · No Comments · Credit Repair Tips

Errors in your credit report can make you less worthy of a credit. However, there may also be information in your credit report that can be inaccurate. These inaccuracies are sometimes due to automated processes. When the processes take over, the creditors can send information that is inaccurate regarding your habits of paying your bills to one of the crediting bureaus either Equifax or TransUnion or Experian.

There are also instances wherein your name is so common that it accidentally gets used for another person or vice versa. In this case, if your name is directly similar to another, your credit report may contain information about the other person. And if that person has a damaged credit, this can reflect on your credit report.

Do It in Writing

Assuming that you have a copy of your credit report, it is important to examine it carefully for inaccuracies. If you find some, make sure that you can procure documents that can support your claim regarding those inaccuracies. Include copies of these documents when you send a letter to the company that provided the erroneous information. More so, always remember to provide reasons as to why you deem this information inaccurate.

Another thing that you can do is to inform the creditor or another source of information that you dispute a certain item or items; remember to do this in writing. There are several providers that specify an address for the disputes. In case they report the disputed item to the crediting bureau, the report must also include a notice regarding your dispute. Lastly, if you are right, or if the information is really inaccurate, the source of the information may not report that error again.
